Most of website designers have often emphasized homepage design for website success and asserted that the homepage is the most important page on a website and homepage design is the most important task of website design. However, practice indicates that a number of website traffic is bypassing the homepage, going directly to internal content pages through search engines, backlinks and RSS feeds. This leads to argue that homepages are less important than most people think. And it is true in special cases and on websites with private targets.

Advertising banner or slider is an extremely popular design element on homepages, they are often used to make homepages more attractive and content of websites to be richer. Extractive contents and navigation links are also main elements on homepages, full contents will be on internal pages. Homepages will be more important if they have a good structure and organization of content of a whole site.
